Timber

All our wood is supplied by State Timer Corporation Ltd, which function under the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Conservation, witch operate the timber plantations in Sri Lanka. All timber delivered is managed in a sustainable way and are approved and certified. Forest plantation areas are released annually by the Forest Department under their Forestry Management Plans to the State Timer Corporation for the felling of trees and extraction of timber.

Tectona grandis

Teak

Teak is known for its hardness and natural resistance to moisture, pests, rot and weathering and its ability to retain its appearance and durability even when exposed to outdoor influences. Teak is therefore very suitable to use for manufacturing outdoor furniture and maritime projects. If left outside over a time, it will acquire a beautiful silver-grey platinum colour .

Terminialia arjuna

Kumbuk

The Kumbuk tree has an impressive size and is known for its durable wood and beautiful appearance. It is often used for furniture, flooring and building construction, but is less resistant to moisture, pests and weather compared to Teak. It is therefore best suited for furniture kept under roofs and indoor.

Swietenia Macrophylla

Mahogni

Mahogany is known for its beautiful and precious appearance which often has a deep reddish-brown color. Mahogany is used for the production of furniture, veneers, panels and other interior woodwork. The wood has a smooth surface and an even texture, which makes it popular among furniture manufactures. Mahogany is best suited for indoor use.

Artocarpus Heterophyllus

Jak

Jack is a softer and more porous wood and is a variant of softwood, but can be used in indoor furniture if you wish to gain the fresh yellow color elements. It is commonly less used in furniture production than the other options, but can contribute to give a interesting and special impression.
